Coronavirus Update June 2020

Blaenhonddan Community Council has been monitoring advice regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic and its implications. Whilst circumstances are changing daily, the Council has made some decisions which impact on the delivery of its services.

All physical meetings of the Council have been suspended until further notice and this is consistent with actions taken by other councils in the local area. Online meetings are taking place. Agendas and Minutes are published on the Council’s website All of the Council’s community centres have been closed since Friday 20th March 2020. This is likely to be the case for some time, but the situation will be reviewed regularly based on advice from Welsh Government and Public Health Wales.

There will be no formal use of the Council’s playing fields. Parks and Playgrounds have been closed where it is possible to do so, until further notice. The closures are being kept under review, but as it is not possible to guarantee the safety of individuals who may use park equipment, nor indeed the actions of a minority who may not heed this advice, closures will remain in place for the time being.

The Council’s Office is closed to the public and staff are working from home. Should you require support in any way, please contact the Council or your community councillors and you will be directed to a support network. Any contact with the Council will be through the following e-mail and mobile number. These will be regularly monitored and responses made where appropriate…

The Council regrets that it has had to close its centres, playgrounds and its office, but has done so following an assessment of the risks and for the benefit of the wider community in accordance with advice received. The Council is encouraging everyone to heed Government advice and adopt social distancing measures. This is the best way to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and we must all play our part to keep our communities safe and well.
